Team Thornton Just Flying
Nov 21, 2017
There is a very old saying in life "There Is No Substitute For Hard Work" and this is the case for Jockey Damien Thornton.
Following a very successful stint in South Australia where Damien rode 68 winners including 6 black type winners Damien made the tough call to return back home to Melbourne to further his career.
"Adelaide was great and gave me a chance to ride some nice horses, given this, it has taught me to become a better and stronger jockey" .
The move back home has been a rewarding one already, Damien has been able to link up with a number of trainers to hit the ground running and has already posted 24 winners for the season.
On top of the winners Damien is travelling far and wide to ride track work, trials and jump outs for a number of trainers opening up a few more doors and making the best of his new opportunities.
"I just feel settled and happy and have a great team around me, plus the support I am getting from so many trainers has been a huge boost for my confidence".
Damien has recently linked up with Sammi Murray as his new Manager. She is helping him engage and chase new clients and also assist in looking after a number of trainers who have been with Damien from day one.
"I feel like I have come back from Adelaide a better rider and a more mature rider plus I have the mind set that I can take the next step".
Plenty of positives from Damien and he is looking forward to what the future may bring.
We wish him every success with his career going forward.
