Thornton Metro Double At Sandown

Nov 23, 2017

A super day for both Damien and Steph Thornton with both hoops recording metro winners yesterday at Sandown.

Stephanie in Race 5 was able to kick home Fudged for Cranbourne trainer Cindy Alderson, a slowly run race early Fudged moved up to eyeball the winner before racing on by to win by a length.

For Steph it was her 20th winner for the season and her 3rd Metro winner and proving she as a valuble city claim.

"Things are going great and now that the Spring Carnival is finished its a great oppurtunity to get more rides in town and chip away at my 3kg claim''.

Steph added "It was my 2nd ride and win on Fudged and I just love her will to win".

Not long after older brother Damien fresh of a treble at Dunkeld was able to win on the Warrnambool trained galloper Goldie's Fortune for Jane Baker.

Goldie's Fortune sat outside the leader before kicking clear to win by a nice margin and rewarding trainer and jockey with a nice metro winner.

Jane Baker mentioned post race "Damien is riding as good as any rider in Victoria at the moment and we are thrilled to have him on".

Damien added "her run at Mortlake was alot better then what it looked and we did come to the races thinking she could run a cheeky race and she did''.

A pleasing result for the family and I am sure alot more to come.
